I’m writing this on December 31, 2017, and as clichéd as it sounds, I’m ready for a “New Year, New Me.”
This last year rocked me so hard. (I’ve talked about it a lot.) Big wins like a book launch and upleveling in my business. Profound trials like a strained relationship with one of my older children, family illness, a miscarriage, and resurfacing grief from losing my parents four years ago (because sometimes we tuck grief away for later).
I’m glad to say my practice served me well this year—a year of rollercoaster highs and lows but one in which I kept showing up, expressing myself, asking for help, and being of service. Old (and very scary) feelings of panic and depression crept in, and I met them with nonjudgment, compassion, and a fierce love for myself and a belief that happiness is for me, too.
But new and curious habits took over in other parts of my life. I came down really hard on myself during the times I wasn’t responding well to my tools.
I stopped moving, and I started eating. A lot. I made decisions that weren’t in service to my mental and physical health, and it started to show. I gained almost 20 pounds, I stopped wanting to go out or be in front of a camera. I stopped making YouTube videos and showing up on Facebook Live. These are things I used to LOVE to do, so I know this is something I have to change.
There were a lot of conversations and meditations that led up to the decisions I’m making for 2018. And I thank my incredible circle of women for supporting me during this messy part of my journey.
I’m going to write in depth about all my goals for 2018 for my annual New Year’s Eve ritual tonight (read more here or sign up for your free guide below), but here’s some of what I’m aspiring to this year…
What I’m releasing in 2017 and calling forward for 2018:
▻ To love my body as she is, a beautiful passageway for 5 amazing humans and the container for a warrior’s heart.
▻ To treat her better as a sign of that love and reverence.
▻ To let go of old ideas of how I’m supposed to look and who I’m supposed to be.
▻ To embrace all the new and exciting opportunities for learning the Universe is leading me toward.
▻ To release all that isn’t mine to hold—ideas, control, opinions, tasks, responsibilities.
▻ To show up in every moment with gratitude and awareness of my divine gifts and assignments.
▻ To do this because I want to be better for me, for my family, and for God (the Greater Good).
So these are three pictures of me in my underwear that I took Saturday morning. Yes, this is just my body, but it’s more than that, too.
It’s me as I appear now (yeah, I woke up like this)—vulnerable and in progress, physically and spiritually. It’s not a “before” pic—it’s a “now” pic.
Because now, I accept myself as I am, but I hold myself accountable for taking care of myself better. Now, I love myself fully, and I see all the potential of what I can experience, achieve, and offer. Now is the only moment that matters, so I’m holding myself accountable and honoring all my promises to myself in every moment.
You should know that I’m going to call on you for your support for this during 2018. But I’ll absolutely offer mine in return.
