Mindfulness for Kids (that adults will love, too!)

Hello! I’m Rebekah Borucki (she/her), a meditation guide, best-selling self-help author, and mother-of-five. My oldest will graduate from college in the spring, and my youngest just started kindergarten. My hands are full, but so is my heart.

Rebekah Borucki – Meditation Guide, Author, and Mother-of-Five

After waiting patiently with my dream for nearly 20 years, I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’m self-publishing my first children’s book in Fall 2019 (delivery is guaranteed by December 15). And I’d love for you to be a part of the village that welcomes its main character, Zara, to the world!

About the Book

Meet Zara, a clever, responsible, and sometimes anxious seven-year-old girl who lives with her mother (Mama) and four-year-old little brother (Sam).

Early Character Sketches by Danielle Pioli

Like a lot of kids her age, Zara sometimes struggles with managing her emotions when confronted with stressful situations. In Zara’s Big Messy Day (That Turned Out Okay), an approximately 700-word, 40-page hardcover picture book for readers ages 4-8, children will join her for an ordinary day in her life where she faces three obstacles.

Guided by Zara’s mother, both Zara and the reader will learn a simple breathing technique—a short visualization meditation—that will help them find peace and calm in any moment.

Our Very Special Mission

We hit our Kickstarter funding goal in only 14 hours and ended our campaign at 585% funded! But we’re not stopping there. The next step is reaching our first-phase goal for this project: bringing mindfulness, meditation, and empowered wellness to the most vulnerable members of our communities by delivering 1000 free books to elementary school classrooms.

Our Kickstarter Campaign Was a Huge Success

I’ve partnered with my very dear friend, Quentin Vennie, who is doing great work in the yoga community in Baltimore City, to go on a reading tour of Baltimore classrooms to gift them Zara’s Big Messy Day.

Then, we’ll move on to schools in New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington DC, and beyond!

For just $250, you can gift 25 students—an entire public elementary school classroom—their own books to take home and enjoy (or choose the more affordable partial classroom option of $100 for 10 students).

Zara can’t wait to go on tour and meet new friends!

That’s only $10 per student to gift a book and a bunch of extra goodies: coloring pages, stickers, and more! I’ll also include a note from you, so the kids can send a special thank you for your generosity.

BONUS GIFT FOR YOU: And as a special thank you from me, I’ll send you a signed copy of Zara’s Big Messy Day and a special something extra when you sponsor a full or partial classroom.

Every Purchase Helps Get Free Books to Kids

To hit our first big goal of 1000 free books for kids, I’m donating one book for every book sold! Yes, for every single book sold with the “Buy One, Gift One” option, I’ll donate one book to an elementary school student.

I’m so excited for this book to reach little hands. And my heart is already exploding thinking about all the mindfulness and meditation practices that will be born from these pages.

About Me (the author)

Here’s a little more about what I do when I’m not writing stories for kids.

I’m a mother of five, TV host, meditation and yoga guide, birth doula, and best-selling author of You Have 4 Minutes to Change Your Life (Hay House 2017) and my brand new books, Managing the Motherload (Hay House 2019) and the Calm and Clear Mindfulness Kit (becker&mayer 2019).

With my youngest two children, Sunny and Annabel

My mission is to make mental health support and stress management tools accessible to all, and I support that mission through free and low-cost services both on and offline in communities that I’ve been nurturing for over a decade.

My big dream for this project is to turn it into a series of books with Zara as the star. In each book, she’ll learn to overcome obstacle on her own by learning a lesson from a trusted person in her life. Children will have fun learning simple and effective self-help practices along with Zara.

I live with my family and a barn-full of rescued farm animals on our eight-acre homestead in rural New Jersey, where I also host workshops at my Blissed In{n} community learning space.

From My Illustrator, Danielle Pioli

I have loved drawing since I can remember. The idea of creating a whole universe—from my mind to paper—made me fall in love with art and storytelling. I also always felt like a healer at some level. As a child, I was so drawn to magic—what I call Quantum Physics now—that I was certain could I heal and help people. So I grew up to become an Artist and Hypnotherapist/Energy Healer.

I’m an artist and illustrator whose mission is to inspire others to create

I understand the pain and joy of the creative life and my purpose on this planet is to inspire ideas, questions, change, and transformation, and to serve others as a conduit and by sharing what I’ve learned.

My mission is to spark inspiration through my art, illustrations, comics, zines, poems, songs, hypnotherapy sessions and whatever I feel drawn towards. It’s a pleasure meeting you.
